I changed the driveshaft CSB on my car yesterday. I marked the phasing of the two halves before I disassembled it, but greasy hands plus manhandling the shaft trying to get the threaded lock collar off means that marks came off. Is there any way to determine how it was phased before to prevent vibration, or will I have to have it balanced?

Changed driveshaft CSB... did I just screw myself?

If the cause of the CSB replacement was a failure of the rubber mount, it is almost a certainly that you need to replace the drive shaft. In almost all cases, that failure mode is caused by binding u-joints in the drive shaft. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

FYI I just replaced the CSB and guibo as a preventative measure. Like I said, this is a $400 car that we are converting to compete in a 14 hour race, so changing them was cheap insurance IMO.
ecniv has the driveshaft right now and he said there are two yellow marks on either side of the center U-joint (one on each half of the shaft). Would those be the factory marks? If so, I might be saved yet.The Homer: Powerful like a gorilla, yet soft and yielding like a Nerf ball.
