    Tran/Clutch Q

    Are there any sure-fire ways to distinguish if sub-performance issues are related to the clutch as opposed to the tranny, or vice-a-versa?

    When redline shifting out of second into third (or any subsequent higher gear), my RPM's will naturally drop down to around 5000. However, there is a nasty delay/hesitation for aprox 1000 RPMs before the trans will kick in and start to take-off. What needs to be done to fix this?

    Just need some ideas as to what the issue may be. Is there any other ways of telling what the issue might be, or is the issue itself the distinguishing factor?

    let me know your thoughts.

    thanks!

    That sounds like the clutch, or perhaps the engine management system. The nature of a manual transmission (gears) is such that it can't slip.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Any good clutch replacements out there? If so, by who and what else may I need to consider replacing?

        The rear main seal, the rear transmission seal, the gear shift seal, the throw out bearing and resurface or replace the flywheel (depending on condition). Oh, and do all the shift linkage stuff while the tranny is out... much, much easier that way.
