    Help removing torque converter

When I pulled the tranny, the torque converter stayed on the engine. According to the Bentley, it is not attached to the flywheel and it should just slip off. But it's not budging a mm, so I'm wondering if maybe the Bentely is wrong? Or am I missing something? Any help is appreciated.

3 bolts hold the converter onto the flex plate.

not that this helps, but i recommend a 5 spd swap.

after what you have done, i believe that it should just slide off. penetrating oil is your friend.

5-speed swap is the whole reason I'm pulling the torque converter in the first place

pry bar between the flywheel and converter. Since it never has to work again you shouldn't have a problem applying enough force to get anything off. The nipple thing can rust and get stuck in there a little bit. Are you sure you got all 3 of those bolts off.

I have no idea what's involved, but sounds like a job for the BFH. The biggest sledge I've been able to buy in a short handle is 4 lbs. I'm tempted to buy an eight pounder and cut the handle in half.

Finally got it off. lots of prying with a giant crowbar, little bits at a time while my dad turned the crank from the front of the engine. Fuck that thing, it was on there tight.
