    98 323 shitfter?

im looking to upgrade my shifter, would a e36 323i shifter be any better throw? or is it just the z3 and z4 shifters that are ideal oem upgrades for our cars?

Ive tried a bunch of them before going with the e36 m3... Perfect in my opinion.

^way too short for my liking. IMHO nothing beats an oem rebuilt. But thats just me.

so basically anything that isnt from an M/ Z badged car or e30 specific wont be worth it?

I have a z4 (3.0 I think) shifter in my daily driver and a e36 M3 shifter in my track car. The e36 M shifter is awesome compared to the z4 shifter. It keeps it close to the steering wheel, isn't notchy, and still has a much shorter throw.

It depends what you are looking for. There is no one simple answer. A lever that one person thinks is perfect, you may hate.
Tons of people say that the Z3 3.0 shifter is perfect, but I couldn't stand it. I'm happy with my Z3 1.9 lever.
Some people are even running the shift lever from an X5.
It's all about trial and error to find the right lever for you. Nobody on this forum can tell you the one perfect lever to get.

thanks for all the input guys,

one thing to clarify tho... notchy means you can feel the gear when you shift into it? or how do you describe it
