    leaking from the top, tranny manual

    so my tranny is leaking from the top, what are possible reasons?
    oo ya near the shift linkage I think

    Might be a leaky detent cover seal.

        It probably costs less than $10, and shouldn't be hard to get it done.

          just so I know, how does said cover work, what is it's perpose?

              do I need to take the transmission out? how much would that cost to replace, is it the same for your 318 and my 325?

                Get all the parts needed, and then Preferably to remove the exhaust, disconnect the driveline / flex disc, be ready to safely support the tranny with a jack stand, undo the tranny mounts to lower it down to gain some space, and carefully extract the seals ( pics above), drive the new seals in place.
