    fuck my life.. x10

So.. I was basically doing a s52 swap into an e30, and i didn't have time to do the clutch, so i had the motor sent to a shop, I used a spec stage 3 6 puck clutch.. anyway, after 1 MONTH of waiting, i finally get my damn motor back... and a couple months later my motor swap is complete.. I go to drive the car for the first time, but when i press the clutch in i hear a shit tun of spinning grinding noises.. so i had the car shipped to the shop again, after 3 weeks, i get the car back, and they say it's fixed blah blah(they installed the clutch disc backwards the first time..).. so from there I sent it straight to the exhaust shop... from the exhaust shop I drive it and right away i noticed something wasn't right with the transmission/clutch setup.. so anyway.. this is what my problem is now, maybe you all can help...

When the car is idling, and i give it a little rev, say only a couple hundred rpms the trans starts chattering, but when i have the clutch pedal pressed down, it does not do this.

Also, when i drive first to second gear, or reverse, it also chatters, but much louder, it makes some kind of clunking noise too, which isn't good at all..

Also, when I turn the car off, I hear a shit tun of chattering from the transmission, like, a really gross clunk and chatter combined, but it doesn't do this if i turn the car off with clutch pedal engaged..

i'm thinking it's a throw out bearing.. but the shop should have installed the throwout bearing... so uh.. help me, please!

    -Abe.

oh man, i had my clutch disk installed backwards the first time, it locked the tranny on, had to break aparts the bell housing into little pieces and take off the pressure plate to get the tranny off. sooo.... your tranny could be fubar from them yanking hella hard to get the tranny off, or it could be as simple as the TO bearing. are you running a getrag260? or an e36 tranny?

        which way is backwards...
do you want the springs in the clutch to face the pressure plate?

The plate usually will have some words on it that you can figure out what they mean. On my Sachs stock clutch it said getriebeseite, gearbox side.

what trans are you running ? you got the right pilot brearing? it might be the trow-out.
it could be a bad spring or somthing on the clutch disk.

And this is what happens when people don't know how to READ.

I said i took the setup to the shop due to time issues, i was doing a FULL 5 lug conversion swap at the time, as well as the motor swap while going to school full time, so i figured to help me out time wise i would do the suspension/brake and 5 lug conversion while the shop installs the clutch.

The clutch disc was installed backwards, I noticed the stamp that said "FW SIDE" facing the rear while the guy was trying to tell me the clutch is rubbing because i gave them the wrong one... i quickly corrected them.

If you used a lightweight flywheel, chatter from the transmission when in neutral with the clutch engaged is normal and to be expected. I can't tell if that's what's happening here, or if there might be other problems. But flywheel induced chatter might be part of what you hear.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

                          Nope, no LTW flywheel. :(

X2, even though it doesn't help your problem.

I have a gnarly throw out bearing noise, along with the flywheel chatter...sounds like shit. :x

And here I thought all of you had a gravy setup. =P You said you have a clunking noise putting into first correct? Could be the differential. I also installed the clutch disk in reverse, but to my avail it didn't mess up anything just a loud screeching noise. I've done many clutch jobs before but what lead to my incorrectly installed clutch disk was my inexperience with dual mass flywheels (which is what we all have hence why we installed them incorrectly thinking it was correct).
