    Resurrecting worn/dead LSD?

Yesterday we discovered that the LSD diff in our car is not limiting slip as it should be (yes, it is LSD confirmed by the S stamp and both sides turning in the same direction). Getting on the throttle around a corner at the autocross yesterday in 3rd gear only succeeded in making John Force style one wheel rolling burnouts instead of getting power to the ground:

I have heard of some people changing the fluid to Redline 75W140 NS or equivalent to temporarily bring the limited slip back to life by removing the friction modifiers that normally prevent the clutches in the diff from chattering. Any truth in this?

I should have mentioned the fact that this is a 24 Hours of LeMons car, so our budget is next to nothing and we're trying to do this on the cheap. We have access to a 4.10 diff with working LSD but I think the gearing is going to be too steep for the track we're on (Thunderhill).

You can get new clutches for like 70 bucks a piece. It's pretty easy to change the clutches (as long as you are able to get the LSD unit apart without stripping the allen bolts holding it together). Hell, you don't even need to remove the ring gear to do it.

Porcubimmer! Putting pricks on the outside, to back up the pricks on the inside... Good luck in the lemons race.

FWIW we discovered that we forgot to hook up the front sway bar after doing some repairs on the car last week. That would explain the body roll and possibly some of the wheel spin, so we'll fix that first and go from there.
