in the process of swapping my 90 325is, donor trans came out of a 86 325e with a dual mass flywheel used all of the 325e parts for swap. Then i swapped to a single mass and stock sachs clutch for a 90 325is. When i press the clutch pedal in i am getting nothing, wont go into gear nothing, then i went to start the car and it sound like the starter isnt even making contact with the flywheel. i am honestly lost at this point. anyone have any pointers?

Check starter wiring. Black/yellow goes on top, black/green go on bottom lugs.
The FW and starters are the same dimensions for all m20's, so there shouldn't be any mismatching going on. -
Check through the basics, and when you're through with that, check em again.
Fluid in reservoir, proper plumbing, fluid to master (crack bleeder), shifter linkage, engine oil. Try manually rotating the crank to see if you can hear the starter spin.

Late models have two stud terminals, two wires. One takes a 10mm socket, other takes 8mm. Early models have a single terminal (bottom, black/yellow) that originally came with a spade connector, but most starters come with the stud and have been converted by now to eyelet.

So I’ve checked the starter. It doesn’t seem to even be making contact with the flywheel. Only has a contact patch of maybe a mm. Are the manual and auto starters the same? I’m currently using an auto starter
