Shifter linkage separated from bottom of shifter.. how to secure it?

Yo I just got this hooptie regestered today, went to Reverse in to a spot..

The shifter linkage came out from the bottom of the shifter, I pulled up the boot and could see it.
I'm able to reach under Neath & sliiiiide it back in, but she pops out, idk how to secure it, with these white things?

the one pic shows it hanging out. The other is it inserted into the silver part, the bottom of the shifter.

Does it secure with a clip??

It looks like the shift linkage came out of the shifter. There is a cir-clip that holds it in place.

    Go to https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select

Our cars are in the "classic catalog". Enter the rest of your car's info, Browse Parts, Gear Shift: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=25_0027

    You need part number 13.

While you're in there, you may want to replace all of the wear items to eliminate slop in the shifter. Here's a kit, but you can find non-BMW parts for way cheaper: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...ft-bushing-kit
