I'm not sure how much traffic this site has any more with regards to the M60 stuff but I didn't see anything on adding air conditioning to your M60 car. I'm in the middle of it right now and figured I'd document it if anyone is interested. Its fairly straightforward but requires some workarounds for the radiator hoses and ac line fittings.
Anyone on here interested in a comprehensive guide for adding AC to your M60 swap?

I'm not really wanting to add A/C to my M60 swap, But I would defiantly be interested in how you did it. and documenting it here will give the options for others in the future to see what you did.

I get that, the parts and cars just aren't as plentiful as they once were. I sometimes forget how old these things are now!! I'll be charging my system this week, looking forward to having it working again after almost 20 years lolComment

I basically just used the stock m60 compressor and replaced the rest of the parts in the e30 with r134 compatible parts. New expansion valve, parallel flow condenser, accumulator, and then an adapter kit for the r134 charging fittings. Also replaced all o-rings.
I have a radiator shop nearby that makes custom a/c lines for around $125 a piece. I had them make two new lines that go to the compressor. One line is bulging into the lower radiator hose which I don't love.
I had the system charged, it worked for 5 minutes and then stopped and haven't messed with it since. I've been having fan/cooling issues and need to address those first. A/C is on my list of things to repair this spring because I would love for it to be functional.

Basically I ended up using an E34 540 compressor and manifold then welded the ends of the E34 lines to a pair of E30 compressor lines. I used all stock E34 pulleys and tensioner and E34 belt. I replaced the drier, condenser, evaporator and used the R134 pressure switch. I already had a spal fan wired to the stock e30 resistor but I found that the air volume on the low setting for the fan was not enough to cool the engine and provide sufficient airflow across the condenser so I bypassed the resistor so either low speed or high speed just puts the fan on high. So far it can idle in the Florida heat, maintain engine coolant temp and also run the AC full blast and its ice cold.
One of the major headaches I ran in to was the recirc flap actuator rod end thing breaking off the passenger recirc flap but I found some really nicely made doors on ebay that worked perfectly.
The other huge headache was the barrel style pins in the connector on the pressure switch were too small and were not making good contact with the stock E30 pins in the body harness. I spent hours trying to figure out what was going on, why the AC clutch was only randomly turning on when it wanted to. I never even thought about this until I said screw it and went back to the basics to find that sloppy fit on the chinese switch. I replaced both ends with a GM style weatherpack connector and it fixed it.
I know this isn't very interesting without pics but it was pretty straight forward albeit a lot of work not only refurbishing a 35 year old AC system but adapting the E34 stuff to work in a car it was never designed to fit but it's all there and looks and fits pretty much stock.Comment
