what are you going to do for the exhaust?

oh and just a little warning. If you get it runnning and choose not to have a manifold on while you do, take a heat sheild and place it over the steering shaft and fuel lines. Fires are scary.
Exhaust I have the X5 manis. I cut them too long so they were hitting the firewall so I took them off for now. Going to trim them down and install once I get all the ancillary parts around the engine positioned/measured, etc. Probably going to run them into dual pipe all the way back. I've got a nice little Flowmaster that I had on my e30 that was obnoxiously loud with the M20. Car is an '89, so next year she'll get AQ plates, so the exhaust isn't going to be permanent.

Considering deleting the PS for now, just for simplicity. We'll see. Going to try manual brakes and see how I like it. Drove my Rover for a couple of weeks w/out power assist and the e30 can't be that bad.

I need to fab up my trans cross member and get the fuel tank in before firing it up. Also getting a new waterpump as IDK if this one was damaged in the collision the car I got the motor was in. It had been replaced, but I don't want to chance it.

This is exactly what I needed though. I can't wait to get this thing going.

Still need to mod the pedal bracket, and get the core support reinforced/made up with the tabs for removal. Taking it off was the best thing I did. I can't imaging trying to put the engine/trans in over the support.

I think I'm going to run all the wiring to the core (headlights, foglights, signals, etc, etc) through a 20 or 25 pin connector so I can disconnect them quickly and rip the front off easily.

Good idea! I want to slim my front wiring down, as I no longer have a bunch of the factory stuff hooked up, and I might do a connector as well.

Glad you're making some progress, looking good so far!

Yeah, I ordered the wrong connector twice to make the harness adapter, so I now have a male and female 20pin. Figured this would make it a lot easier than pulling the wires out, etc, and putting them all back.

          Thats a pretty sweet idea.

I ended up trying to put it in over the core support. It's easy with the intake removed but once it's on it becomes a struggle. I need one since mine is slightly tweaked. I'll be applying this idea as well.

About damn time you put that motor in. Hit me up if you need a hand with anything.

              Haha, exactly!

You wouldn't happen to have a spare 3.25 LSD laying around would you? Lol

                Oh for Christ sake.

I just sold a 2.79, would have been a decent diff for that swap but no I don't have a 3.25 lol

Damn, lol. Lemme know if you come across one. Otherwise I'll be pulling the 3.25 from my e28 and swapping it over, then putting my 3.73 LSD in the e28. Really don't want to go through all that though.

Oh wow. I thought you were long done and enjoying it! Although you are being a lot more thorough that I, but I only get weekends do work on it and have about a month until the Vintage.

After that and Bimmerfest East I may pick up a B44 block and actually build it. I just need to use this "deadline" so I can finally get my ass in gear and have a running pile of parts, instead of a pile of parts in a corner.

So, got to making my harness adapter, but fucked up and now I need to get a piece of antenna to shove a couple of the pins out and re-position them. I blame the cat because he kept jumping onto my work space and I kept having to put him on the floor. Fucker.

E30 side is ready, to mate to the V8 half, just have to fix my errors. Ugh.

I didn't bother to re-pin anything. The cleanest way would be to shorten and mate the wires to new pins and then pop them in to you have a seamless adapter. I didn't feel like doing it so I did it the way you are. Why'd you need to re-pin?

I put a small wire where the large green (starter circuit) wire should be. Pin #17.

So mad when I noticed it. I've got all my terminals crimped on and ready to connect and heat shrink but this one boneheaded mistake killed it.
