How's the clearance on the throttle linkage? I had planned on doing the same thing with mine, just wanted to make sure the new positioning of the part that the cable attaches to clears everything through it's motion. You basically did exactly what I had planned out in my head, glad to see it works, and nice job!

Exhaust looks nice too! You doing your own manifold-back exhaust? I'm getting ready to order a 2.5" mandrel exhaust builders kit off ebay.

Dual 2.5 inch will sound really nice and deep!

I don't have any clearance issues with the acc linkage the way I designed it. If you're referring to the steering column, no issues. I'm going to have slack in the e34 linkage due to the location, but I don't think it will preclude proper installation and cable binding.

Good deal! I cut mine up this morning and dropped it off at a local shop to have it welded.

          Get that thing fired up!

GOT IT FIRED UP! and it's loud.

We had to troubleshoot a few things like crossed fuel lines and ECU, but it worked!

So I had the EWSII 484 ECU with it's mapping chip and purchased a 404 NON EWSII ECU (from a 92 740i) from ebay. I thought it was a good idea to swap the chips so that it would be seamless to the engine, but apparently that didn't work.

I spent 2 hours with a friend tonight troubleshooting it and after we derisked everything, we decided to re-swap the chips back to their respective ECU's.

Well wouldn't you have it, it fired right up!!

It didn't idle. It died after a second or two, mainly because I didn't have the headers installed, but i've got it.

Moving on...... More pictures to post tonight of some more goodies I got

                    Some updates

So after having started it up, I decided to unwrap some of the gifts that came in today as well as take care of some other odds/ends.

I relocated the sensor wires for both the brake fluid level and the coolant level.

I also wired up the starter 30h wire into the X20 connector directly to the E30. On the E34, it was NOT wired through the X20, rather straight to the body electronics via some other connector.

Next for wiring is the carbon canister, which on the E30 was inclusive of the M20 wiring harness, but on the E34, it went again straight to the body electronics. no big deal.

On to the pictures. Some rust repair completed under the driver dead pedal. Got myself some seam sealer and did work.

Rob at UUC (he owns it) was really accommodating and provided me exactly what I needed. SSK USSE5, DSSR112, and an E92 transmission selector joint because the width matches the DSSR112.

SS Brake lines kit (6). This will complement the 300mm.de big brake kit. :D

Couple snaps of the E39 M5/Z8 Flywheel. This kit comes with the clutch (hub springs), pressure plate, throwout bearing, and alignment tool. They came from california, so they're not set to arrive until Monday.

I would love to provide more updates, but I won't be around this weekend, so until Monday night, I'm out.

                    Thanks guys,

I did this a few times and it idled longer each time. Then I started it with semi-open throttle and it revved like a monster. He said there were flames coming out of the exhaust, so I figured I'd stop and take it as fact that it works.

i just read through this and i wanted to say nice build. i wanted to add a couple things that i thought might help out.

the driveshaft: i parted a z3 m roadster for my s52 swap. the front part of the driveshaft appears to be the same length as the part you had custom built. i know this won't do you any good, but it might be something to think about for others that follow your path.

engine stalling issue: i don't think the stalling has to do with not having the exhaust hooked up. just plug in the o2 sensors to the wiring harness so the computer gets an input from them. for obd1, it should run for at least 30 secs to a minute before it starts acting funky searching for o2 sensor input. it is more likely a vacuum leak problem or a fuel pressure issue.

welding: it takes a good deal of practice to make good quality welds but most of the ballgame is simply figuring out the machine. i have a pretty nice mig with a new tweco gun that i can almost always make good professional welds with consistently. some time ago, i borrowed my buddies, cheap ass harbor freight 120v welder. the wire feed through the gun was really inconsistent. i pretty much found it impossible to make a decent weld with that machine. i finally gave up on it, bit the bullet and rewired the garage in that house so i could run my 240v 50 amp machine. i was back to almost perfect welds again.

my purpose for relating this story is that i am wondering what type of machine you are using? it could be that if you have a cheap welder, you have feed problems with it as i did.

if you do have an inexpensive machine and you still have quite a bit of fabricating to do, i suggest scouring craigs to see if you can find a good name brand machine used for a good price. in my case, my mig is an older airco that i bought off craigs for 300 bucks. it even came with an extra 45lb spool of wire. as soon as i got it, i bought the tweco gun with a 15 foot cord off ebay for 150.00. i couldn't be happier.

That wire is the secondary air pump relay 12v supply. It feeds that 50A fuse. You can remove all that mess. I also see you have the unloader relay wire grounded. Check to see if you have continuity from the small ring terminal on the starter to that small wire you have grounded on the strut tower. Your X20 connector will probably be empty on pin 15.
