Pardon the poor pictures.

Just picked up this '98 M62 the other day. The car it came out of had no body damage, and was taken in on an unknown mechanical issue. The yard didn't have the key, so mileage is unknown. The car looked very well taken care of, and the motor is extremely clean. I looks like the timing chain guides were just replaced. The oil looked brand new. I'm assuming the trans went out (auto car) after the owner had the expensive timing job done, and washed his hands of the car.
I had planned on piecing together an M60b44 setup, but if the timing chain guides and tensioners have just been replaced on this car, I'll stick with a plain M62b44. Called Technica down in GA about the ecu reflash they've got in the works for the M62 - they are in the late stages of testing and should have something ready soon.
I'll be taking it apart as soon as I can grab a stand to put it on. There's still a chance that there was some damage to the motor, but at $250 I'd still come out ahead.
Even the back side of the motor was clean.
I have a G420 held for me in Nashville, along with an M5 clutch / flywheel. I'm going to lighten the flywheel at work.
Because I'll be spending the entire year in Knoxville away from the shop, I'll likely be working on the car here instead of at the shop. Thankfully I'll have enough tools to work with.
Right now it's just slow parts accumulation. The current S52 setup is going to be sold. I'll likely pickup an e30 DD to use while the brown car is down. I plan on taking a page from Brucebe's book and modifying the oil pan to drop the motor down lower. I want it as far down and back as possible. Flaming river bits will be used to slim down the steering u joints.
Instead of worrying about fitting a booster, I'll be going boosterless with a compact wilwood master cylinder setup. By modifying the firewall and brake pedal, it should be possible to cram it close to the fuse box.
Out with the old, in with the v8, hell.
