    m60 e30 swap dyno sheets

I googled all sorts of things and couldn't come across dyno sheets except for some so called 'dynos' on google images.

One came across at 200 rwhp.. so I have seen many ends of the spectrum. Wiki says the car puts out 280 assuming at the crank, so is it safe to say the average m60 will give you about 250 whp?

Sorry if this is posted but like I said I couldn't find a thread that was actually informative w/ numbers. Thanks!

I think the average is about 250-265 WHP and similar WTQ.

The peak HP isn't really what this engine is about though.

Here is a pic I made, it's an s52 dyno with m60b40 and m50 graphs over top of it.

Bumping an oldie.. The red line doesn't match with what the numbers say. Could you clarify which numbers the m60 made?
      Thank you

The red line was drawn in Microsoft paint, along with the blue line. That's just an s52 graph with 3 runs, that I drew the other plots over (I plotted points every 500 RPM's). So just disregard the numbers and look at the actual plot. Peak numbers are sort of useless anyway, the main thing that chart shows is the difference in the bottom end.

Just out of curiosity, is that a normal torque curve for an M60? I haven't really looked at other graphs but always heard the M60 has a powerful but flat torque curve. This one seems to spike quite a bit between 3-4000 RPM. Was there a tuning issue when this dyno was run or is this pretty common?

That's the norm, the m62's make about 50 lbs ft more torque down low, so they have a flatter curve. That's what the extra .4 liters of displacement does.

That graph is also pretty narrow, so it exaggerates the curve. Here's one making nearly identical numbers at every RPM, but looks more 'normal'.

When you say "the M62 makes about 50 lbs ft more" are you saying more than the M60? Does this apply to the early non vano M62 or only the M62TU?

I'm thinking about replacing my M60 with an early M62 converted to OBD1.

Yeah, more then the m60. There's a thread on bf.c, with everyone posting their m6x dynos. I'd recommend searching for that and browsing through it to get an idea of the power difference.

                    Why not the M60B44 frankenmotor?
