oh ok go for it .imma get my DME re programmed into manual for cheap locally and if it somehow becomes alive im sticking with VANOS

do not buy it yet u cannot use 4.0L trans on 4.4L but u can use 4.4L trans on 4.0L

no its about a sensor that is used on the 4.4L not flywheel

The transmissions are interchangeable, you just make the hole for the crank sensor (there's place for that on the side of the trans..)

ohhh ok .i know there interchangable but i didnt know u could make the hole (bimmerforums-e39 section has a section of this issue)

DME7 501 290 Is this a OBD2 dme for a manual setup?

nope but you can mount a 5spd flywheel in a 6speed

Is it just cause of the difference in the flywheel/crank trigger wheel?

The input shaft of the 5 speed zf trans is not the same as the 6 speed, the 6 speed clutch disc won't fit onto the 5 speed input shaft. The 5 spd ZF is the same as the one used in the 328/m3, just with the v8 bellhousing. That's why we use 328 clutch kits.
