    Tempting!!! (V8 parts content)

    Thoughts? (craigslist)

    BMW V8 + 6 speed /// M62TUB44 Getrag 420G - $2000

Selling a M62TUB44 and Getrag 420G 6 speed manual transmission. Originally came in my 2001 BMW 540i Sport (E39). Great for someone looking to swap into a project car, do an auto to manual swap, or just looking for a replacement drivetrain.

roughly 100,000 miles on the engine and transmission.
I am told the previous owner changed the clutch and flywheel for new units around 25K ago.
No leaks or damage of any sort. However, the VANOS makes slight noise when warmed up. Does not affect the performance of the engine.

Comes will all front end accessories.
Power steering pump is 1 year old.
Expensive water-cooled alternator is 10 months old.
Water pump is 10 months old.

I did the valley pan overhaul about 8 months ago, which included replacement of the following parts with OEM:

    valley pan cover and gasket
    intake manifold gaskets (x4)
    throttle body gasket
CCV (rear manifold cover, along with new gasket)
water pump replaced with metal impeller type
    2 new serpentine belts
water manifold gaskets (rear of block)
    vent pipe underneath the manifold
both water tubes under the manifold, along with new O-rings

Stay far away from m62tu's, one of the shittiest BMW V8's they ever made. What you want is an m62 from either 97 or 98 without vanos.

You're right, but the tranny and block would be the keepers.

if you have the time to deal with water cooled alternators, vanos rattle (it's very embarrassing at start up) then go for it.

Well, see what he wants for the trans. Honestly I wouldn't pay over a grand for it - I know someone that sells M5 420Gs for $800. If you want to do the M6X frankenmotor, pm me. I have a B44 block.

I still have the whole M62b44 NV in pieces, so if you want the whole thing, let me know.

6 speed makes the swap more more expensive and difficult, but definitely worth it for the wow factor.

                      Custom driveshaft?
What are the other main things that need to be done to incorporate the 6 speed?

Nevermind on that question. I looked at your thread again and, yeah, the 6spd looks like a PITA

Nothing special with the 6-speeder. You just need to modify the propshaft and shift linkage - piece of cake really.

M62 with VANOS is a great and silent engine, though most probably you would need to replace vanos units and whole timing end (which you should do with normal M60 swap as well)..
