    Supercharger options

I came across a youtube video where a guy installed a Rotrex supercharger on an e30 with an m60, but instead of the normal upper passenger side position, he installed it where the A/C compressor goes. He used the stock crankshaft A/C pulley as well.

Seems like a great idea if you don't use A/C. Is anyone familiar with supercharger installation requirements? As far as bracket thickness, belt tension, etc? Seems like it would be cake to have a big chunk of aluminum water jet cut, with provisions for a tensioner pulley mount, but I don't know anything about supercharger setups.

I probably wouldn't run an intercooler, and instead just clock the S/C to have the outlet point straight up towards the throttle body. And I'd obviously have to find a new oil filter location.

That looks slick. Look at the front pulley at 2:22 in the vid, it is different than the stock one and appears to be aluminum.

Nice catch, I wonder what his reason for ditching the stock pulley was. Those aftermarket crank pulleys are very expensive.

To me it looks noticeably larger in diameter so i am assuming it is to run the charger faster.

Yap, there are couple of "bolt-on kits" that fit the charger there. There might of course be the problem that the charger becomes the lowest point on the engine => will break first time there is a rock flying around on highway..

Anyway, clean install and seems to push nice power out as well. Gets very tempting ... :)
