Piston to valve contact or if there was something in the cylinder would be my guess

^CAI is cold air intake. wasnt talking about the cat. he was suggesting the car went through a large puddle and sucked water into the intake and hydrolocked the engine.

Also, piston to valve contact will not bend a rod.

                Detonation (lean condition) or water.

                What's the backstory?

Reminds me of a funny story about a friend of mine, and the guy is a member here.

Drives through puddle, car dies. Calls me, and I tell him NOT to crank it over, but bust out the tools and pull the plugs. Says that the #5 squirted water at him when he loosened it.

Never quite ran 100% for the following days, and I told him I thought it sounds like it's knocking and has a bent rod.

Well, fast-forward around 1,000mi and a month later. and the thing just finally dies on the freeway.

I found a fist-size hole in the block when the tow truck dropped it off in my driveway.

Sold 4 months ago? The problem with the engine... is not yours.

So what I'm going to assume here, is that you sold this car four months ago, and since then, it has developed a bent rod.

Is the new owner pushing blame on you for this? It's not like they bend over time, really. The bend, they're bent, and the engine runs like shit. Run it like shit for long enough and it'll spit the rod through the crankcase.

I'd tell them to pound sand.

The guy isnt asking for anything except some help.

About two weeks ago i get a call telling me. That since ive sold it he had the fan blow up and put a dent in the hood. Then last week he called me to tell me the car runs like poo.

I Tell him, i cant diagnose it as im 1000 miles away. That he should prob take it to a mechanic in town. So today i get a call telling me the shop came back with a Bent Rod.

I have an idea why it happened, but before i share what i think. Iwanted to see if what i think is logical or outof space.
