Will a M60B30 ECU/DME work on a M60B40?

I've been offered a 730 (404 non EWS) M60B30 ECU/DME very cheap, tempted to get it just as a spare, as I already got a chipped 404 540 ECU/DME. But does it work on the 4.0?

I've been searching Google, with no definitive answer so far.

This site suggests it does work with all M60 engines.

As far as I know, a 404 DME is a 404 DME. The chip is what stores the maps for fuel and ignition timing, etc... So you'd just need to swap that in order to have it run correctly.

Yes swapping the chip would make sense. Worth £25 just to keep as a spare.
I've still got the original chip from a 540 404 DME, which I changed for chipped chip. lol

It should definitely work. I'm running a 404 DME out of a 740i with my M60B30 with no issues at all.
