Nah. Someday I want to fix it and it and make a "323is" out of the spare E30.

Edit: I've got a rebuilt head for it, so I'm hoping that the bottom end is basically ok.

Any reason you don't want to put the 8 in the "spare E30" and keep the S14 in its original home?
I'd want the s62 in a Touring or 4dr, if it were me...

It's just too slow. So, no, not really. And given the condition of the M3 when I bought it, I feel quite good about the fact that it'll be driving again. :)

                      And honestly, if I wanted a sedan, I'd just buy an E39 M5. I really don't like E30 4-doors.

Why the S62 over S65? Cost?

At least the DME part is easy..

Cost, ready access, but most importantly, torque curve. I drive an S65 regularly, and it's an engine that feels slower than it is. I love the hooligan nature of the S62.

I was thinking more of the weight factor, but I get what you mean. same power level but it has 1 liter more displacement.

Granted 45lbs. is noticeable (at least according to a quick google search), but I wouldn't call that enough to influence the decision.

To be honest, I'm not actually sure that I would prefer an S85 either. Same displacement, but weaker torque curve. Ultimately, I imagine that I'd probably get over it, but the specific goal here is hooligan. The S62 is BMW's LS6 and I love that about it.
