How fast is your V8 swap?

I'm curious what modern cars you would compare your v8 e30 to in terms of acceleration and out right grunt.

I can only compare my M60 E30 to my wife's 2014 Mustang GT convertible (auto).

They are completely different cars and accelerate differently. In 0-100km/h my E30 has a fender on the Mustang however after about 75km/h the Mustang just walks away. I think it would be even worse for my E30 if it was beside a manual trans Mustang because the auto trans in the Mustang is hopeless especially at highway speeds.

Fast. After my new cam & intake I'm expecting about a 7:1 lbs/hp ratio. A new GT Mustang will be in the high 7s, Stingray about 7.5:1.

Carbed. 302 wasnt rediculously fast. Fun as hell with all the torque but not super fast.

Just saying v8 swap is extremely ambiguous. Leaves a lot of variation... I'm throwing a 416 ls3 in mine and I'm assuming that it'll run mid to low 10s in a quarter if I find a way to get traction.

I guess any way you look at it though, a v8 e30 is gonna be damn quick whether it's an LS or a ford 302. Hell, even an m60 is probably pretty quick, these cars don't weigh very much.

Ya i left it open ended on purpose b/c of the different swaps being done. I have LS1/T56 plans when i get back to the states. Would be happy with a low 12's high 11's with nothing fancy done to the motor.

Thats pretty damn quick, but its probably doable.

Ya should be easy given the light weight. Only issue i think would be traction. My last car was a 300fwhp 07 GTI that shocked a lot of people. Hoping to do the same with the touring. "Awww look at the cute little wagon! he wants to play awwwWWW FUCK ME was that a V8?!!" *evil laugh*

A stock LS1 would get you into the 12s I would imagine. A 302 would need just a little help, and a T5 behind one may not last long beating on it at the drag strip.

Considering you have to pair custom headers/intake to an LS1 for an e30 swap, even a stock ls1 will well flowing intake/exhuast should make over 300 rwhp. Granted you get traction in a light +300rwhp car, I would say you might be able to make 11s. 12s shouldnt be an issue.

You could probably run high 12s with a stock 302, but it'd have to be a stripped out dedicated track car on slicks.

Ya the only way i can see to get traction is to put a longish rear gear lsd on it and DR for track trips. I'd probly end up doing simple mods after a while like an ecu reflash to take advantage of the headers/exhaust and intake. Maybe a cam, maybe an intake manifold, electric cutouts to side pipes to scare people every now and then. lol
