Will m60b40 engine work with b30 dme404?

If the two engines use the same MAF sensors and injectors, probably. If they don't use the same parts, you'll need the B30 MAF and injectors.

all wiring system is the same, only how we knwo that b30 is less powerfull, so I am thinking that maybe b30 ecu will restrict the engine.
One person said me that he is driving with b30 ecu on his b40 engine, he said that b30 ecu adapts to b40 engine, true or false

THe 540i and 530i both use the same 404 DME, just with a different tune (the chip). You do NOT want to use an m60b30 tune with an m60b40 engine. Almost nothing is the same between the engine.... MAF size, injectors, intake manifold, cylinder head shape, combustion chamber size, bore, stroke, it's all different...

So just put a 540i chip in the 530i DME. Or just get a 540i DME.

yesterday I started up my engine with b30 ecu, I havent made a test drive, but it looks fine running in garage. The engine works nice.

If my b40 ecu is with ews, is it possible to swap the chips??(in b30 ecu b40 chip with ews. I tried to swap but there wasnt spark( I putted all ews blocks, and key chips)

ecu 0261200 404 is no ews
ecu 0261203 484 is ews
in google it shows that it comes on bouth engines, b30 and b40
yesterday I also saw b40 with 404 ecu and it is oem.
Is it possible that under one numbered ecu, for example 404 ,there is diferent type of chips for each engine?

Right, but since you can get a 404 DME for like $40, I can't imagine why anyone would even do such a thing. Or even bother swapping chips. I haven't looked, but there has to be at least 10-20 non-EWS, m60b40 404 DME's on ebay right now. Just toss it in the car and call it a day.
