      Factory LS2. Nothing fancy.

      Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

          What are your end goals?
          N/A or boosted HP?
          Sound?
          Balance?
          DD, drag, or track?

On the super cheap, don't forget about the Toyota 1UZ. All aluminum 4.0L. Efficient, smooth, light. Early versions can handle 600hp on stock internals (there is a built turbo version pushing over 1400hp on stock block), and live forever (400,000mi is not hard to do). And, to cap things off, they are EASY to find in local junkyards. My pick n pull has them for $140. If I blow mine up, I'll just put in another one instead of rebuilding.

The downside. You have to adapt a manual trans. There is nothing that bolts straight up.

Yeah, the 1uz is great and all, but I'd be going into that swap blind (not very well documented)

Besides, money isn't the biggest option, doing the job right/once is the important part

Every time I see that picture I immediately fixate on your drivers' side strut mount. Pretty sure I have an allen head bolt that'll fit in there... might wind up mysteriously installed this weekend so I can get my nervous twitch to stop
