    M6x 5speed swap - E36 328 driveshaft question

    Hi,

For those of you who've completed the swap using 5speed trans and e36 driveshaft with 4 bolt driveshaft side, can you please confirm if you were able to use the e36 328 driveshaft out of manual or automatic car?

According to http://www.rtsauto.com/e30-bmw-m62-v8-swap-3/ manual driveshaft should be used, and some are saying one from automatic would work as well ?

"The following is a list of suitable Drive shafts:

M3 E30 (fits with 5-speed gearbox without modification)
    325e E30 fit 129PS (5 speed with no changes)
E36 (medium stock exchange fits 328i, 5 speed with no changes)
    E28 535i (E30 rear of use, then like a wave M3 E30)"

    Thanks!

    Yes, I used a 5 speed e36 328i driveshaft when I was still using the zf320.

Thanks! I did see your post :) There are more automatic driveshafts out there, any ideas if they are different length ?

I dont think an auto 328 works.
I have a e36 m3 (manual?) that i did a quick measurement and i think will work. Haven't actually installed yet however

Auto driveshaft is probably shorter right? Keep us updated with your progress !

Auto driveshaft is much shorter than the manual one, but the rear section from Diff to center is the same length.

Question - does anyone know for sure or have measured the rear section of the automatic vs. manual 328i driveshaft ? I know the front is different, but is the rear section the same on auto and manual ?

The CSB is in the same place on both, right?
