May I ask details on the oil canister lines, did you have a shop extend these? I am looking to mount my canister behind the driver side headlight like you did. From a quick look the stock 2 oil lines going from the canister to the engine bracket aren't long enough.
Did you go with AN fittings welded to the bracket and the canister or did you find a shop that was able to extend the lines or did something else ?

All of what you see is stock from a 1998 540i. I didn't have to modify the lines at all, the only thing I did was make a little bracket (out of a m20 intake brace lol) to hold the canister up right.Nice!

If you wanted to move it further away then you might need to modify the lines, but they are just long enough to put the canister right there.
