C101 Plug - wire colours and functions

Desperately need help with my M52B28TU swap into my E30 (1985 323i RHD). I need to know what the wires from the early square C101 plug back to the fuse box are, as in what they do - fuel pump, tacho, ignition etc.
I have spent considerable time searching online for this info but have come up empty handed. I am located in Australia and it appears that wire colours vary depending what part of the world you are in.
These are the wire colours that I have in the C101:
    blue
    blue/yellow
    black/red
    purple/green
    black/brown
    green
    black/yellow
    green/yellow
    blue (large)

    Thanks in advance.

never 100% sure, but perhaps these you can verify.

Small blue is charge light/exciter circuit
    black/yellow is starter
    purple/green is fuel pump
    green is ign coil power
    green/yellow is fuse 9, run/start

It shouldn't vary too much by location- what DOES change is the year- on- year chassis revisions

the 1984 and 1985 manuals ought to get you 94% of the way there.

BUT as Jaxx says, verify before you cut. BMW didn't always do what the diagrams said.
I have found lots of minor variations...
