    Water jacket corrosion

The water jackets on my eta head are corroded. I have been told that repairing it is pointless and it’s better to get a new head. Opinions please?

How corroded are we talking? Pictures would be very helpful.

I mean .. I have seen worse. That can easily be welded. I would find another shop.

If you can find another head for cheap, yes, it's not worth welding an eta head.

Likewise, I've seen worse- put a gasket over that, and if it's not trying to seal on the corrosion,
            it won't matter.

The other concern is that if it's corroded there, it may be corroded in other places, and you might
discover that later- I had an M10 head eat through a head bolt pillar. THAT sucked.

But as with most of life, it's always about the whole story- if you can't find another head,
have a lot of money into that one, etc, that visible damage isn't going to be too hard to
repair successfully. It's just sealing water- IF it's even doing that (see above, gasket fit test)

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves
