Has anyone successfully cleaned an E30 fuel tank? The one in my current 1986 325e has a line of crud on the bottom. I don't see any rust, but you can't see very well in there.
I haven't but I have cleaned a few motorcycle fuel tanks. Just get whatever solvent you like best, a mild agitation medium if the material is stuck, and shake/wait/repeat until clean. Clearly, it's much harder to extract all of the crud from a car tank than a small tank you can easily shake by hand.
IMO, I'm not sure it's worth it since you can fairly easily change both the pump sock and the primary fuel filter, plus you might want to anyway after cleaning a tank.
