Cruise Control Enable pin 3 for manual cars

Trying to get my Cruise Control working after replacing the throttle cable. The cruise used to work but then the throttle cable to the cruise module snapped a few years ago. Got the cable replaced but still no cruise.

Brake lights work and Fuse 6 is good. I checked with a multimeter and get Ground at Pin 9 and 23 of the blue connector that goes into the cruise control module above the ECU. When I step on the clutch no ground which means the clutch switch works. Also tested the brake light switch and it is good.

Pin 1 I get 12V. Tested Pins 2,4,5,7 for the control stalk and all are good.

I get 4.xx volts on Pin 6 from the speedo while car is idling. Need to have another pair of hands to test voltage while driving.

I do not get anything at Pin 3 labeled Cruise Enable. Not sure if this is Automatic only or if it should be on my manual car as well.
I did find a unplugged Blue / Brown wire under my dash, but no Green / Black wire to plug it into.

Like I said cruise control used to work but I only stopped using it when the throttle cable broke.

Pictures are from when I was installing a 13 button OBC and did not know what the Blue / Brown wire was for.

So figured out by my other post on BF that the Cruise Enable should really be called Cruise Disable, since it is only on Automatic cars and Disables the cruise control when in Park or Neutral with an Auto trans https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...or-manual-cars

To close this out, I was lucky enough to snag another cruise actuator from the junkyard today, they were having a 25% off everything sale.

I was bench testing the actuator to see how it worked and found that when you remove the big red gear to change the cable, the solenoid gear can come off its arm and so when the solenoid gets energized it doesn't get pushed in to the big red gear attached to the throttle cable.

Sure enough checked the actuator on my car and the same thing had happened. You can see the white gear in the middle is leading back. It should slot into that nut / hole in the middle.

      Glad you got it working!
Need to take mine apart, as it quit on me a few years ago.
