    323i euro strange running problem??

Well got the 323i running but I have a strange running problem. I have replaced just about everything you can replace including the ecu. I put it all back to the original parts one by one to see if it made a difference,,,,not really. However, this it what is happening this morning. Yes, I changed the temp sensor; the blue one:)
When I start the car it runs super rich, just like the injectors are leaking....no problem, can pull them out and have them cleaned. Idles at 500 and rough as I have ever seem on an m20...I have owned a bunch of them. However, when I pull #11 fuse and start the car without the fuel pump running it runs perfect, idles at 750, very smooth.
I am thinking the pressure at the rail is causing the injectors to leak more and therefore run bad. I did notice a lot of white smoke when the fuel pump is turned off and the car is running...I don't see this smoke when the car runs with the fuel pump running. I have worked on this problem, for about 2 months, so running out of ideas:). Any help would be great.
    thanks,
    jm

Sounds like you are onto something. I'd probably find a good used set or new compatible injectors. I only ran the M20B23 for a short while before swapping but I experienced vacuum leaks and had to play with the timing to get it running right. Does yours have a piggy back computer for the oxygen sensor?

you should verify fuel pressure at the rail - if the return line is blocked, the fuel pump will spike pressure at the rail causing injectors to leak and overfuel.

Hi and thanks for the reply; the johnson box was removed; found it in the trunk; along with the 02 sensor. The pressure when the pump has the fuse in is about 35-40 psi; right when the pump primes the system; however it drops off to 25 when the engine gets running....seems a bit strange, unless the injectors are really leaking and keeping the pressure down.

This morning I pulled the injectors out, only one looks like it is plugged up, but of course the filters inside could be plugged. Did notice there is the sticky substance on
the ends of the injectors....time for a rebuild or new.
