    Injector install troubles...

Swapping injectors on the car this afternoon. Everything came out nice and easy but trying to get the new injectors in seems to be a lot more difficult than it should be. I'm trying to install the new ones without the fuel rail attached. I'm pushing on them with all my might and they still feel loose in the the intake port. Considering a prybar and hammer but I don't feel like breaking stuff yet. Are they supposed to "pop" into place? I'd imagine they need to fit fairly tight into the manifold to avoid air leaks.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

they fit snug but they don't snap into the ports or anything. Lube the o-rings with a little bit of motor oil, bolt the injector rail on top, check for leaks.. should be fine.

Yes always put a coatof oil on the o rings before installing them. You should also replace the o ringsif you suspect them to be worn. As Nando said they don't pop but just press in. I have found it easier to install the injectors on the fuel rail then installing them.

Alrighty. I re-installed everything as-is. Maybe I'm just thinking too hard about the whole process. Thanks for the help.

On the downside, there's a small wad of paper towel that fell down into the intake whilst cleaning. That'll just burn up once I start it right? No harm done?

A small piece of paper towel won't hurt anything and will go ringht through the engine.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thanks, everything started up fine. Took it for a spin as well which was nice since I haven't really driven it in six months.

Should an injector be loose enough to turn by hand with everything installed?

Indeed they are! However I started it up this morning and it's leaking gas at the FPR where it presses into the fuel rail

That O-ring does not want to sit in there!

Yes, you can usually twist them a little by hand.

Fixed it. Took a second look at the FPR and the O-ring was halfway shredded. Threw a new one on and good to go.

                        Spirited test drives are fun;)
