ATF Fluid in 5spd Manual Tranny??

Just curious if anyone runs ATF in their E30 tranny?

My E36 M3 5spd takes ATF in its tranny and I bought some Mobil 1 synthetic ATF for both cars while I was down at the store. Then before I went to change the fluid, I noticed that the Bently manual doesn't list ATF as one of the "approved" fluid types for this tranny.

Should I skip the ATF and go for some Redline MTL??

a lot of people use ATF in their E30 trannies to solve cold shifting problems. it will work fine, but I don't know if it's the "best" fluid for the trusty Getrag or not.

I run a ATF in my tranny, mixed with a quart of 80W-90.

Next time I plan on mixing in a quart of 90W-140

we have been through this before. but the bentley says that ATF is fine for manual transmission with cold temperature climates. i would think on more of the extreme cold. if you are not in a cold region, i would go with redline. people seem to love it.
