Need advice on replacing cylinder intake manifold gaskets

I tried to find a vacume leak that has been haunting me. I heard a leak, I found the #6 cylinder intake manifold nut so lose, it was about to fall off. It looks like the intake gasket on #6 has deteriorated and moved a little. Next weekend I will pull the manifold and replace all the gaskets. Are there any other parts I need or should replace when doing this?

I didnt really look to see what work was involved. Do I need to remove the tstat housing, it looked like a separate part? Do I need to drain the coolant? If I do, then I am doing the t-belt and water pump a the same time.

Many many "while you are there" items. The tstat housing kinda gets in the way, IMO remove it.

          Alright, alright.

What is the "spring loaded tube of death", so I know what O-rings to buy.

Oil return line from the intake manifold's center port to the crankcase IIRC

That tube sucks. Was a PITA to get it to line up right.

                    Keep it slideways!!

I am only pulling the intake far enough back to replace the gaskets.

Do I need to disconnect any fuel lines?

Do I still need to mess with the spring loaded tube of death?

Yes, because on the center of the head the stud is longer then the rest, so you will have to basically remove the intake manifold from the head. You can let it dangle there I guess if you wanted though..

Is the yes on both? What is involved in disconnecting the fuel?

You don't have to disconnect fuel, although if you have old and worn out lines, they may crack when you flex them moving the intake manifold

My car is a 92 with 106k, so they are prob ok, but I will take a look at them. Are they e30/BMW specific, or can I get them at the local parts store?
