How to adjust door locks on 2-Door E30?

    Hi everyone,

The doors on my '87 E30 take more force than they should to open and close. They work, but they're noticeably harder to operate than I'd expect.

Does anyone have any tips on adjusting the door alignment or latch/striker to make them open and close more smoothly?

    Thanks in advance!

I usually will loosen the striker on the body of the car and snug it up where it's not loose but not torqued down and slam the door shut. This can help align it.

    Torque down and try again

Do your door strikers still have the plastic buffer? If it's cracked or compressed, you will have to slam the doors really hard to get them to latch, think about this way: since the striker is shorter the door must overtravel further to latch. You can also loosen the two countersunk Torx bolts and pull the strikers further out, but make sure your door panel still remains flush when closed.
