The Carolina's are further south... when you say "snow" do you mean the light frost ya'll might get once or twice a winter? ;)

Your damn right they close schools for a 1/4inch. Especially here on the eastern shore. Half the people drive 4 wheel drive trucks and still can't manage to keep from running into cars/ditches/poles. Hence the reason my e30 stays in the driveway when the roads get covered. That and the fact that my car turns into a snow plow if there is more than an inch on the road.

I mean, what's the alternative? You wreck your car? I think not.
Main reason for my last post was because of just that; I slid mine into a curb in the snow on ES100's. Wasn't serious, just a curbed wheel and a wiped out control arm; but a PITA at the time. ;)
Now I keep a pair of 185 studded-snows handy in the winter.

I got out of 5 days of college for snow last year. Hooray for commuter-based colleges!

Do they seriously close school for 1/4 inch of snow?

In Chicago it's like 8 inches plus for them to even consider closing school.
