Im not sure if it is an S38 or M88, I was reading the boards and someone was saying the 88 models had the M88, not the S38, and that the M88 was better than the S38??
I had never heard of an "M88" before this last week.
US spec is 87-88 M5/6 288 hp, and 91+ M5 is 318 hp
cheers

That is a shame, sorry it's damaged. Wish I could get it but it's too far away, needs too much work. :(
Whoo Hoo! 600th POST! I must have too much time on my hands!

M88 = Earliest of all M5 motors. Single row timing chain
S38 = most common M5/M6 motor. Dual row timing chain.
I've taken 2 of these engines apart in the past 4 months for snapped chains. not pretty.Below the radar...

OBVIOUSLY you think Im retarded... WRONG.
I am not a professional BMW mechanic, but I have more experience than most.
Thanks for judging me incorrectly, have a nice day
But based on the pictures in the auction, and the provided link in the auction which clearly shows an oil-soaked oil cooler... one could easily draw the conclusion the engine was run while the oil drained out.
Temper gets you nowhere. Thank you for correcting my mistake, I apologize for my incorrect assumption.
Perhaps you should address this misconception in the e-bay ad. I'm sure I'm not the only person who could make such a mistake. As outlandish as it may seem to you...
Cheers.Below the radar...

Sorry for that. I do realize that it is near impossible to judge emotion online. However, I didnt mean for it to come across as tempermental, if you were sitting here next to me you would have heard that it was more sarcasm than anger.
My apologies.
I will address it in the ad, thanks for the heads up. BTW, you have been the only one to ask about it. (out of over 1200 views and 33 people watching the auction).
BTW, your M3 looks sweet :thumbs up:Joe Funk -- Portland Oregon

Best of luck on the sale! Used to have an '88 M6 with Dinan Stage 3 suspension... fun cars, big, but fun!
edit: M3 is my fathers... not mine, yetBelow the radar...

The I assumed was toast due to the large puddle of oil. As Chris Mentioned you should say why the puddle is there. We are not calling you an idiot. You do seem quick to snap though.
Patient is a virtue. I was just going by the picture below. A puddle like that scares me. I wish you best of luck.

on the contrary, you seemed quick to discredit me. why?
I would NOT sell a bad engine as good.
1: I have an excellent reputation that I will not tarnish
2: I am a very moral person. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
3: I am good friends with Jordan. Out of respect to his board, I dont even make things seem better than they are. (ie, you can take and retake and retake photos until the product looks better)Joe Funk -- Portland Oregon
