    M44 vanos?????

    hey guys i was wondering if the m44 engine in the e36 second generation had vanos and if it was bolt on the m42 block ..... the only diff i think is the size ones 1.8 the other 1.9
    let me know if some1 has already tried

      m44 does have roller rockers and the DISA intake manifold you see above, though.

      i'm curious to see what one of these might do if you swapped it into an E30 with a MarkD chip... might be something to gain from removing the OBDII choke and letting it rev a little more. but i'm on a different path, so i won't find out unless my M42 dies on me.

        the m44 isn't as well balance and counter-weighted on the bottem end as the m42

        I wouldn't bother

          no but it doesn't have the wacky vacuum connections, bearing and timing chain problems of the M42. overall it's a better motor.
