    Techron is the shiznit.
    BG-44k is s'posed to be good too, but it seems to be more pricey and harder to find.

      Don't sweat it. I can easily hear mine when it pings. When I bought mine new, the dealer recommended 87 Chevron because it contained more Techroline. I never got pinging until 40-50k miles or in hot weather.

        Here in the Uk i use 98 and we also have 102.

        The lowest is 95.

          but I thought european countries used a different type of rating, ie XXoctane in UK does not equal XX in the US

                  Use the Techron. You can buy it a Wal Mart or Auto Zone. It's identical to the stuff sold at BMW dealers. I use a bottle every 5K miles to keep everything cleaned up.
