Stupid dumb car had to go and have LSD now I can't be mad

So I was pretty pissed off today. My idle was being stupid earlier in the week and my car was dying. I adjusted that so now my car idles pretty decent and doesn't die anymore.

Checked my 3 week old drive belt and its fraying. GREAT the bent water pump pulley was not the problem there goes some money.

One of my cailipers sticks everyonce and awhile which drags the car down significantly. I always know when it is doing this becuase the pedal feels "higher" than normal. It will come to a complete stop with my foot OFF the brake.

So I am going to jack up both sides of my car so I get the factory jack out to use it in conjunction with my floor jack. What do I see? A big fuckin puddle. #!!#!@!!!! so I clean that up. Pop of the light put a bead of silicone around the light seal and tighten it all back togehter.

Im pretty mad now.

As I was checking which wheel did it I jacked up both of my rear wheels and began to spin it to see which one was locking up (drivers side seems to be the problem) anyway I glance over at the other wheel and to my surprise its going the same direction as I am turning it not opposite. So it appears I have had LSD for awhile and did not know. I don't know what ratio it is or anything though. Weird eh?

Calmed me down a little bit. Im not AS fed up with this eta as I was before.

I thought that didn't garauntee it being LSD and you had to do some other stuff to be sure

I thought 2 wheel tire marks after burn outs didn't gaurntee LSD..

do a half dounut... like a u-turn drift style and then look at your marks.

if the inside mark fades and the outside gets darker its showing that its transfering power.
also if there is only one mark, obviously, no lsd!

I leave 2 marks doing doughnuts all the time.

Ive never left just 1 tire mark anywere.

Why don't you just look at the tag on the diff and see if it says LSD.

I don't know what tag that is I looked for it.

I'm fairly certain its an LSD anway.

I just wonder how it made its way to my eta.

not a big suprise.... my bottom of the barrel 87 325 has LSD... it was a factory option for pretty much most models i believe.

if you look on the diff, there should be a metal tag... mine says 293S... the S is for LSD

i have an 87 eta. i got no lsd, and a crank sunroof, and vinyl seats

dansciol has an 85 eta, and he got sport seats, power roof, and lsd. that bastard

87 eta's all got the 2.93 LSD as well as the 86eS. Earlier cars got the 2.79 open diff. Two strips is a good indicator, tires spinning in same direction is a great indication, and a tag that has an S on it is the best indicator.

My first e30 an 84 4 door eta had an LSD, OBC, power sunroof..these were all options.

85 and earlier had the 2.79's 86 and up had the 2.93

my 86 had a 2.93 open, which I quickly replaced with a 3.73S

Jack up both rear wheels. Put it in neutral with the E-brake off. spin one tire. If the other tire spins the same direction, it's a limited slip.

Fuck looking at tags and going out spinning tires, that's retarded. Besides, an open diff will lay two marks until it opens up.
