Need help installing shift rod joint!

i have a 1989 bmw e30 and is in need of some help!

Is there a clip that i am missing? because i tried looking for the clip/tried pulling on it. is there a easy way? Please let me know!

There's a spring clip around the rod end and an cross pin underneath the clip. Slide the clip off and push out the pin.

the metal thing that goes around the grove? just push/slide that off?

is there anyway taking this off without the tranny out?

i tried to and gave up. There wasn't enough play in mine to justify pursuing it any harder.

I think you'd be a magic man if you were able to press the dowel pin out with the trans in the car.

That's not hard to do. I use a short bolt that is slightly smaller than the pin. and push the pin out from the top.

As an FYI, dropping the transmission cross member and allowing the rear of the transmission to sag down makes work on the shifter easier.

I did it in mine...don't remember how, but I did...and I have HUGE hands.
