    a few questions

    i found an auto... .....87 325is thats droped on jamex springs and has motor work...port and polish head auto trany chip...engine chip.....remus exhaust....larger amf....anyways i was wondering if i could take my eta 5 speed tranny and swap it into the IS......car is mint he wants 2 but hes negoiable....he said he was beating e30 m's with this car untill he built his 12 sec civic hatch....thanks also how much power do u think this car is putting out??

    His car was not beating e30 M3's. End of story. With a P&P, chip, exhuast, and m30afm his car is prolly putting out 175hp max.

    Yes you can swap your eta transmission in. You will need a 325i flywheel and clutch assembly though.

        auto tranny chip? 87's don't have electronic trannies..

        and that's ~175 crank HP

          thats what he said.....im probably gonna swap the I auto into my E and sell it.....how much would a shop charge to do one a swap like this?

            As far as I know, I trannys can't go in to an E, it only works the other way around.

            If you don't know how to do a swap yourself, good luck spending a couple thousand.

              Shop labor to do the swap ONCE (you want it done both ways, twice) will be greater then the value of both cars combined.

                alright ill probably end up doing the swap myself...but just to get it straight....i can swap my e 5speed into the I which is auto...all i need is the I clutch assembly and the I flywheel?

                  Basically yes, but you could be forgeting a few things. There is a great thread here. Basically searching around here and elsewhere will get you answers quicker then waiting for someone to do all the looking for you.
