the tech at my work has a vent like the corrado's on his e30, then again he isnt exactly running an m20, but the vent is actually a piece of plastic and you just cut a hole in the hood and bolt it in, it's crude, but it's meant for race cars, it's very functional, and i like how it looks though and have considered doing one in my car. ill try to snap a pic or get a link or something.
CAI hood vent?

You guys are missing the point. It's called an I D E A. I said nothing about doing it the day I get the car. There's nothing wrong with thinking up mods for after I get it.Originally posted by DigitalwaveI'm gonna have to agree here. I think you should first buy an E30, get it sorted out, set your priorities, and then start posting/worrying about mods like this.Originally posted by JordanWhy don't you see if your new e30 lasts more then a week before you try giving it more power for nothing?
And Jordan, I seem to remember you were planning to cut a scoop into your hood. So I don't want to hear it.

I see what you guys are saying about the ram air effect, maybe it would be better to have it facing the normal way. Also, since the one side of the head shield will be open, around the fender,
it would possbly be a better Idea to have the louvers or a vent in the fender, but that would also be much more of an involved process, requiring a lot more body work. And I don't have a spare fender to try it on! :DComment

Stop and think for a minute guys. He doesn't have a car, and hasn't hada car or been able to drive for LONG time. If any of us were in that situation we would sit around thinking of all kinds of things also, that doesn't like he said mean it has to be done on day one.
I applaud him for thinking outside the box a little. I get tired of everyone's car's looking exactly the same, including mine. At least he's coming up with things that are half way functional.
Give the guy a break.

Once again, it's an idea I had.
I'm not putting aside money already to do it.
I'm not going out and buying the vent today.
I'm not going out and marking the spot on the hood.
It's just something I thought of the other night, after looking at pics of the Audi Sport Quattro.
This is EXACLTY the reason I didn't want to post this thread.
I should have just kept it to AIM and PM's like I was in the first place.Comment

i think the hood vent idea is not that bad. If you can pull it off, i congratulate you. However, if it's going to be used for daily driving, i dont know what you're going to do about rain getting in it!
Is there a possibility to connect a tube to the brake ducts that would feed air to the intake?Comment

so wait, you started a thread that you knew would go to shit, and it went to shit, and you think there's something wrong with that? That's ass-backwards logic, but what do I know...if you're concerned about the quality of content here, dont you think its detrimental to start such topics?
of the 2315 registered users here, there's maybe 5 that could actually benefit from some form of hood scoop (and that cinco is being nice). The general population has little to know need, and more importantly, solid info, about said hood scoop. this thread is a result of that.BEERTECH

The brake ducts are for feeing air onto the brakes.Originally posted by 1985bmw325eIs there a possibility to connect a tube to the brake ducts that would feed air to the intake?Comment
