    Loud Squeal?

Every once in a while when I accelerate/give it gas my car will squeal a little. I think it only does it when the car is not warm. I have only noticed it ever since the weather has gotten cold and I don't think I have heard it after I have driven it a while. What could this be? Do I just need to let my car run a little longer before I drive it?

    TIA

If your belts are new, check the tension.

    If they're not, replace them.

could be more than just a belt. The sound is most likely a belt but the alternator bushings is where I would look. Just look down from the top side of your engine and see if the alternator is straight accross from your crank pulley. I would suspect its (alternator) bowed in or bowed out this is common on our cars after we get some miles on them..

I just replaced my alternator belt so.......I bet I should tighten it a bit.

mine does this too, except ONLY when the alternator is under heavy load, like when my lights are on. I hate driving at night now. Ill check the bushing and make sure its where its supposed to be.

mine used to do it but i was too lazy to source which belt it came from due to me not having any friends. i tightened them all up and now it makes no noise.
