    temp gauge goin crazy

my car has been runnin pretty warm lately, straight up while driving. and every now and then it flicks over pretty far into the warm and comes right back, just a quick flicker. just starting today while im idling, even after just turning on the car it flickers like crazy over to the right into the warm.

also, not sure if this is connected, but my ac was just completely rebuilt like 2 months ago and its not blowing cold hardly at all.

    thanks

Tighten the grounding nut for the temp gauge on the back of your insturment cluster.

I just had a problem with my fuel gauge. It was reading full all the timet. So I pulled the gauge cluster/pod, and the nut was missing from the bolt on the back. Both the temp. gauge and the fuel gauge have a bolt sticking out the back of the gauge cluster assembly. I went to Autozone and got a 7mm nut, tightened it on the bolt and it works perfectly now.

Not sure if this will apply to you, but there was a thread suggesting that either the nut was too tight or too loose. Mine was just missing altogether. Good luck with it.

My temp guage did the same thing, but the nut is as tight as i can get it without breakign the plastic. I suppose it could be the guage passing away

About two weeks ago my temp guage was behaving in a similar fashion. What I did as a solution was to bleed the cooling system a bit....and sure enough, some air was trapped inside. Now the temp needle stays at 1/2 all the time.

            Just some food for thought.

Both the ground nuts are missing on my cluster, do I just need to put one on and tighten it or do I need a ground strap aswell.
