    same m20s

does the m20 2.8 engine from a 83' 528e have the same head componets (rocker arms, rocker shafts) as that from a later 87,88 325 m20 engine? and it would be possible to enterchange right? i'm parting out my old 5 series, and my friend wants the some of the engine parts for his e30 bimmer thanks -jon

it is not a 2.8 liter engine it is the 2.7 from the 84-87 325e and 325 cars. But between thsoe years yes they are interchangeable but not with the 88 since that was the super eta and had a different head.

As far as I know no you can't. The heads are different, When I need rockers and stuff for my 323i I know the 325e parts are compatible but the 325i ones aren't and the 323i and 325e heads are the same design except for bigger intake and exhaust ports.

Why would you replace your rocker arms with used ones anyways?

The super-eta head is an i head, the only difference is it has single valve springs.
