Finicky door latch? Doesn't close all the way easily

Ok so my drivers side door is very finicky. It only closes fully and tightly when you slam it with a certain force. Too little or too hard, it'll just bounce and stay semi-latched (i.e. it won't open without pulling the handle, but at the same time it isn't closed fully).

What is the issue here, do I have to grease up the latch?

That can be caused by gummed up or lack of lube in the latch. You can try a bit of Lubriplate on the parts of the latch you can reach, but if that doesn't help you'll need to remove the latch from the door, clean off the old grease with solvent, and re-lubricate with Lubriplate (or similar)
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
