    Hood problems

Yea, my hook wont latch. I went to put oil in, and i was having trouble getting the latch to pop, but i evtually pulled hard enough and it opened, but when i went to close it, the latch no longer latches...so currently its tied with a coat hanger.

what can i do? this can't stay like this!!!

i had the same problem, i just had to bend the hook a lil bit towards the passenger side of the car. of course this might not be the same problem, my hood was off my car for several months and i assume the hook got bent sometime throughout this time

Sound like the hood's cable has been strench and need to adjust again nor buy new cable?

        thanks

i think i'm going with your answer Vass. Are they hard to install? i can't even get my hand into the area in which the cable attaches to the latch area.

        thanks again

hood cable being stretched would not explain the hood not latching.... look at the lastch and see if it is stuck... if not, the hooks the hood goes into are slightly bent... that would make it hard for the hood to pop, and very difficult to close it

The spring inside the hood latch catch snapped. Remove it and replace.

No adjustments are offered on either end.

Just be like me. I broke the handle off the hood release cable (#2) so I completely removed it. Its a 2 second task to pop the hood with a flathead screwdriver, and it weighs less.

you talking about that 'external hood release' thingy next to the drivers headlamp?
Anyone have a good photo of where that is?
