    Head bolts torque spec?

What do I torque the head bolts to?

    Thanks

    #2
That would depend on which engine you have. M10 torque specs are different from M20.
If you have an M20 with Torx head bolts, the torque spec is in three stages. On each stage, tighten all the head bolts in the proper sequence.
    Stage 1...22 ft-lbs
    Stage 2...90 degrees torque angle
    Stage 3...90 degrees torque angle

          Straight out of the Bentley:

Tightening sequence (looking straight down to head, standing on exhaust side):
          12 10 4 2 6 8 14
          13 7 5 1 3 9 11

          Stage 1:
          Torx-head: 30Nm (22 ft. lb)
          Hex-head: 40 [+5/-0] Nm (30 [+4/-0] ft. lb)

          Stage 2:
          Torx-head: 90 deg.
          Hex-head: 60 [+5/-0] Nm (44 [+4/-0] ft. lb) after waiting 15 minutes

          Stage 3:
          Torx-head: 90 deg.
Hex-head: 25 [+5/-0] deg. after running engine for 25 minutes

-Jarvis, who was so bored that he went out to his car to get the Bentley and then type all of that for you.
