are you talking about a generic plug wire kit and making them yourself?
it will work fine, you just need to take the impulse sensor off the stock wires and put it on your new ones. I think it triggers off plug #6, but verify on your stock wires.
don't do this because it's an "upgrade" either, do it because the stock wires are worn out, and a DIY kit is much cheaper (and pretty dang easy!). -
Nology hotwires are HIGH performance wires. I have never had to change my wires in my e30 till now so i wasnt sure of any little annoying things that i might have to do

high performance wires = snake oil
I'm sure they are fine, but don't spend a bunch of money expecting some sort of performance gain. as I said, you just need to swap the pulse sensor from the old plug wires to the new set.Comment

I've been running the Bav Auto 8mm plug wires with a limited lifetime warranty (whatever that is worth). They fit beautifully and came with the impluse sensor. Dont recall but I thought the OEM wires were alot smaller like 6mm.
BTW, since you live in Spartanburg, did you watch S.Carolina kick the hell outta Ole Miss last night?1993 Alpine White II 325i convertible (last year of E30 production)

Just buy the IE wires. Made for the car, nice quality.Comment

^^Pretty much. I dont think any plug wires are going to give you much of a power increase on an M20. A lot of it is just gimmicky advertising and people feeling the placebo effect on the seat-of-the-pants dyno.
The OEM wires are a bit pricey, for M20 components (although I guess this depends on the source). The IE wires would be a good quality replacement that probably costs half of what new OEM costs.Comment

ypu, the Cockys did whup 'em. I agree that the ignition wires won't add anything to HP or torque but I do feel like the beefier wires will help deliver a good solid spark.1993 Alpine White II 325i convertible (last year of E30 production)

OEM wires FTW... BavAuto HP wires at best.. are only as good as stock. Ive heard tales of them actually performing worse than stock. I do stress this is only second hand, but Ive heard it from more than one person.sigpic 1987 325isComment

they don't really perform worse, they are just not put together that well.
they work fine for me now that I cut them up and remade them into my own set. :pComment
