    Brakes Pulse

    Hi,

I've been checking out the forum for about a month now. I bought a 1988 325ic in San Diego that we have been doing a lot of maintenance on but I have one problem that I have not figured out. My problem is that when I first get in the car and head down our driveway the brakes pulse a little. They don't fade and the pedal does not go to the floor. When they pulse there is a noise that sounds like an electric motor or electric pump that comes on for about 10 seconds then goes away. Once I go down the road the brakes feel fine and the pulsing goes away. The ABS light has now come on so I figure it may be in the ABS system. What is the best way to diagnose or what is the first part that I should swap out to try to fix this. I searched the forum for a simular problem but could not find a simular problem.

Heres a pic of the car from the previous owner.

Wow, 18 hits and no suggestions. I guess it's up to the noobie to figure this one out.

You could have a bad wheel speed sensor or a bad ABS module. I'd start with the wheel speed sensors.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
